Prints are often overlooked in histories of Modernism, although many artists in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were also printmakers.
This focus exhibition presents an international roster of avant-garde artists and investigates how they used prints to challenge conventions, representation, and style to assert their unique visions of an ever-changing world. Featured artists include Mary Cassatt, George Grosz, Vassily Kandinsky, Käthe Kollwitz, Pablo Picasso, and Diego Rivera, among others.
