John Thompson: Central Park

Exhibition Website

Jun 8 2017 - Jul 21 2017

Located at the Louise and Bernard Palitz Gallery; New York, NY

In celebration of the 22-year career of Syracuse University illustration Professor John Thompson, this exhibition of 30 watercolors, drawings, and oil paintings presents examples from his most recent artistic endeavor.

For the past three years, he has explored Central Park in New York City, specifically its northern end. Working primarily in small bound notebooks, Thompson created watercolors depicting such icons and subject matter as Harlem Meer at 110th Street, to the Bethesda Fountain and Terrace further south. The intimate size of his watercolor paintings was dictated by a self-imposed requirement of completing a work in a single sitting.
