Firelei Báez: To Access the Places that Lie Beyond

Exhibition Website

Aug 18 2017 - Jul 8 2018

The Kemper Museum is commissioning artist Firelei Báez to create a site-specific work of art for the Museum’s atrium, a project in its second year. Báez was born in 1981 in the Dominican Republic, and lives and works in New York. Her imagery builds upon the convergence of cultural histories and examines immigration, identity, and social and historical relevance from both human and folkloric perspectives. Jared Quinton, writer and critic for Artsy, in February 2016 described Báez as “one of our most gifted and relevant young artists working today.”
