Green Romanticism: Nature and the Nonhuman

Exhibition Website

Feb 3 2017 - Mar 23 2017

The Nesse Gallery currently contains a student-curated exhibit for Green Romanticism. Culled from the Wright Museum of Art’s permanent collection, this exhibition presents views of the English countryside during the nineteenth century.

Designed for an interdisciplinary English and Environmental Studies course, this exhibit explores evolving Romantic concepts of nature, the non-human, ecology, and landscape. What did the Romantics mean by 'nature,' and how has their worldview influenced environmental thinking today?
