May 19 2017 - Aug 13 2017

Triton Museum of Art

Santa Clara, CA

In 2017 the Triton Museum of Art will showcase a season of exhibitions surrounding the theme ArtsAbled: Finding Vision and Voice for the Disabled. While the Triton Museum will continue its celebrated exhibitions of contemporary California art, a number of the featured exhibitions, education programs, and auxiliary activities will incorporate and address the ArtsAbled theme. During the year, two major group exhibitions will feature artists who have pursued their art either by surpassing, or sometimes in spite of the physical hurdles they must traverse. In addition to these group/theme shows, solo exhibitions of significant artists who have found expression beyond their disabilities through their art will be presented.

The first thematic exhibition, beginning May 13, 2017, will be Seeing the Unseen featuring works created by artists who are blind. This exhibition will allow visitors to “see” the world as these gifted artists “see” it, and as they may imagine it.
