Los Angeles, CA
Author and photographer, James Prigoff, has been on a sixty-year quest to document street art, public murals and graffiti from around the world. He is the co-author of Spraycan Art (1987), Painting the Towns – Murals of California (1997), and Walls of Heritage, Walls of Pride – The History of African-American Murals (2000). Here, Prigoff gives us a small sampling of a personal archive of over 80,000 images, documenting this urban art form, and in many cases, serving as the sole documentation of the art piece.
