Ōyama represents a contemporary generation with a distinctly global perspective. With an Italian father and a Japanese mother, Ōyama was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, but also lived for extended periods in North Italy. In Tokyo, he immersed himself in an underground art scene infused with the popular and street cultures of both Tokyo and the United States. Ubiquitous surveys Ōyama’s development of what he calls Quick Turn Structure (QTS), a form of expression that manifests across several creative platforms like painting, digital media, sound, and fashion.
