Like any other artistic tradition, African art is susceptible to damage over time. However, many forms of African art are often used in daily or ritual contexts, which increases human and environmental interaction, as well as the probability of damage.
The objects in this installation are examples of how damage and repair reveal a continuous process of making and remaking in African arts.
