Fresh Pick: Eana Agopian

Exhibition Website

Apr 8 2017 - Aug 6 2017

The UICA Fresh Pick award is given annually to a member of KCAD’s graduating class who shows a high level of talent and potential. Eana Agopian, a 2016 graduate of the MFA Printmaking program at Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University, has been chosen as this year’s Fresh Pick Award winner.

Eana Agopian is an artist and printmaker who is inspired by the progressive nature of transformational aspects within the creative process. Her most recent body of work, OCCULTATION: conceal / reveal, draws upon themes of alchemy, psychology, and various modes of sensual perception to explore magical and mysterious spaces and realms of the unknown. Agopian embraces the unknown from the initial stages, allowing materials, process, and intuition to guide the work’s formation. The resulting series is a collection of collages, thread prints, photograms, and embroidered etchings; built layer upon layer, each one is distinct, and a reaction to the previous stage.
