The collection represents each of the developmental phases of American landscape painting, with examples of other genres. Several Hudson River School works stand out, among them Sanford Gifford and Jasper F. Cropsey. Other artists represented are Sargent, Dwight W. Tyron and George Inness, plus five watercolors by Charles Burchfield and six oils by George Bellows.

Also Shaker furniture, and an extensive Print Collection that includes 17th-century Dutch etchings and engravings; modern Japanese works of the "sosaku hanga" movement; American and European 19th- and 20th-century and contemporary prints in a variety of techniques.

The Art Complex Museum is sited on 13 acres with outdoor sculpture installations.

Charles Weyerhaeuser, current Director of The Art Complex Museum, is a descendent of the founder of the Weyerhaeuser Lumber Company. It was his parents who initiated this collection.
