Cherry Bounce: Appalachian Art, American Politics

Exhibition Website

Sep 2 2016 - Jan 15 2017

Democracy is the central tenant of the United States of America; the voices of the people are heard through their elected representatives. Art is almost inextricably tied to the political landscape. As long as we have held elections, candidates have commissioned campaign posters to spread their messages, and political cartoons continue to succinctly depict the great debates and discourses of our government. For this exhibit, artists living and working in the greater Appalachian region will create unique works in reaction to a randomly selected political poster or cartoon from a historic presidential election.
