The Rourke Art Gallery Museum is pleased to announce “Peter the Slug”, an exhibition of watercolor illustrations by artist Ann Solyst from the children’s book Peter the Slug and the Great Forest Race. The book was written by Peter Schultz and illustrated by Solyst.
Peter the Slug and the Great Forest Race follows the adventures of a slug named Peter who dreams of running in the Great Forest Race. The book is about courage, tenacity, and the willingness to follow your dreams. It’s geared toward young children but can be enjoyed by everyone in the family. First published by Silver Goat Media on 8 September 2015 in English, the book is now available in five additional languages -- including Swedish, Danish, German, Icelandic, North American Spanish, and Spanish with more translations in production.
Ann Solyst is a graduate of Concordia College, working as a painter and illustrator in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She participates in art and craft fairs around the Midwest including Art-a-Whirl and the Stone Arch Bridge Art Festival. Solyst is also a member of the Minneapolis Craft Market. Her previous exhibitions include a solo exhibit at the Spirit Room in Fargo.
