In 1830, the English novelist, Edward Bulwer-Lytton originally penned the line, “It was a dark and stormy night.” This now habitually parodied phrase found new life with Schulz, who used the opener in his portrayal of Snoopy as the “World Famous Author,” pictured atop his doghouse with a typewriter. Explore the theme of writing in Peanuts through original cartoons, ephemera, and family-friendly activities.
