Manny Prieres: Surface to Air

Manny Prieres will exhibit large-scale paintings on paper that address the obsolescence of print media in our move to embrace digital media. He uses traditional methods of drawing and painting to approximate the perfect serial production capability of print. Each work is a nonsensical remnant of the original source material, rendered with mathematical precision.

Prieres is a Cuban-American artist who was born in Madrid and emigrated to Miami. He has exhibited at venues in Auckland, Mexico City, Istanbul, Baltimore, New York, Los Angeles and Miami. He was an artist-in-residence at Cannonball (formerly LegalArt) in Miami. Prieres was featured in the New Works 2010 exhibition at Miami Art Museum and had his first solo museum exhibition in 2013 at the Bass Museum of Art. He currently lives in Los Angeles.
