Through a medium traditionally associated with religious iconography, Doug Safranek utilizes small, repetitive brushstrokes to release the subtle, translucent qualities of egg tempera in his portraits of New York City. His work resides in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of the City of New York, The New York Historical Society, and The Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, among others.
