Harmony Korine: Shadows and Loops

This exhibition will contain approximately ten paintings by Nashville resident Harmony Korine, who is best known as the filmmaker/auteur of such films as Kids, Gummo, Trash Humpers, and Spring Breakers. Korine is also an accomplished painter, whose lyrical and dynamic images show his interest in the improvisatory spirit of outsider art, the expressiveness of distressed surfaces, and the unpredictable juxtaposition of layered and warped checkerboard patterns, which disrupt the viewers’ perceptions of the relationship between topography and space.
