Diving through Clouds: Kensuke Yamada

Diving through Clouds, the exhibition of our 2016 Martin Shallenberger Artist-in-Residence, Kensuke Yamada, is on view in the Courtyard Gallery at the Frist Learning Center.

Yamada, best known for his Japanese influence and whimsical style, is loved for his unique and playful designs, so it will be a rewarding experience for our guests, particularly kids, to see and be inspired by his work at Cheekwood. 

Now in its fifth year, the Martin Shallenberger Artist-in-Residence program brings national and international artists to Nashville to create one-of-a-kind pieces at Cheekwood, interacting with staff, visitors, and the arts community throughout the creative process. With its renowned gardens and art collections, Cheekwood offers visiting artists a great set of resources to reflect broadly on nature and sustainability within a global art world.
