Wickenburg’s love affair with the arts goes back over half a century. The Desert Caballeros Western Museum, founded in 1960, has become internationally recognized for its creative exhibitions and programming. The Wickenburg Art Club, founded in 1964, teaches workshops and classes at its own facility and presents numerous art exhibitions and festivals around the Wickenburg community.
Each year, the Museum and the Art Club join forces to mount the annual West of Center: Highlights of the Wickenburg Art Club exhibition and sale. The Museum turns over its Cultural Crossroads Learning Center to the Art Club, which curates and juries an exhibition of artwork by its talented members. The diversity of mediums, including oil, photography, gourds, and bronzes, reflects the diversity of experiences and perspectives that each member brings to the Art Club.
