Encounter: Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all is an installation and exhibition by interdisciplinary artist Alejandro Almanza Pereda that focuses on the still life. Pereda will display — upside down — several still life paintings from the ASU Art Museum collection alongside his own work, the first in a new series of still life videos, which were filmed inside a swimming pool in Phoenix.

Encounter is an exhibition series in which artists are invited to re-imagine and re-contextualize the museum collection in conjunction with their own work. Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all is the third exhibition in this series.
