threeASFOUR: Tree of Life

May 1 2016 - Jul 9 2016

Mana Contemporary

Jersey City, NJ

At six minutes, Tree of Life is a visual leap into the unseen dimensions and connections that bind us, our senses, and the universe. The film premieres exclusively at Mana Contemporary on May 1 and will screen continuously as an immersive experience through July 9.

Tree of Life offers a glimpse of the un-glimpsable as intimate connections between the organic and the mathematical, the transcendent and the quantum, are revealed. Using groundbreaking 3D fractal animation, we are taken on a journey within a multiverse of infinite spaces, concealed—matryoshka-like—within imagined anatomical regions of the human body. As we explore these intricate macro and micro landscapes, notions of size, space, and locality become relative. The effect is at first disorienting—yet ultimately reassuring—as we begin to grasp our own place in the cosmos progression.

threeASFOUR is a trio of transnational artists based in New York City who use fashion as their primary artistic medium. Founded in 2005 by the designers Gabriel Asfour, Angela Donhauser, and Adi Gil, the collective has built a legacy of using cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship to create clothing at the intersection of fashion, sculpture, and mysticism.
