The Campaign for Art: Drawings, Part 1

Exhibition Website

May 14 2016 - Sep 18 2016

This presentation of modern and contemporary drawings inaugurates the museum’s first space dedicated to works on paper. Part one of a two part exhibition, this gallery will reveal the rich array of drawings, collages, and watercolors pledged to the museum through the Campaign for Art

Encompassing examples of radical abstraction, conceptual restraint, and psychological exploration, these artworks capture the creative possibilities of drawing. The exhibition includes a group of early collages by Ellsworth Kelly; drawings by Arshile Gorky, Jasper Johns, Eva Hesse, and Robert Smithson; and pieces by important Bay Area artists, including Robert Arneson, Jay DeFeo, Jess, and William T. Wiley.
