BILL RASTETTER

STREET ART REINTERPRETED

Exhibition Website

Jan 16 2016 - May 29 2016

Inspired by the relationship between art and activism expressed in graffiti on the streets of Buenos Aires, Argentina, photographer Bill Rastetter sought to create a broader spectrum of experience for the viewer by “mashing up” two separate images to create each of his final pieces.

Each is the result of overlaying two full-frame 60-megapixel photographs allowing the viewer to see the bottom image “through” the top image. Also included in the mashups are overlaid images from works by well known artists such as Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, and Federico Botero, among others, all displayed at the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires.
