Gronk’s Theater of Paint

Gronk’s Theater of Paint presents a solo exhibition of legendary Los Angeles artist Gronk, for which CAFAM’s main gallery transforms into an interactive theater set.

Based on his work designing experimental opera sets for director Peter Sellars, Gronk’s site-specific theatre allows visitors to imagine themselves as performers, while also providing an active space for experimental performances through the course of the exhibition. Ephemera and video from the past four decades traces his work in set design within a broader context of his longstanding art practice.
