Theatricality in the Visual Arts

Exhibition Website

Feb 6 2016 - May 1 2016

An overview of theatricality in the visual arts looks at the formal means artists use to impart a sense of drama and setting to their compositions. Shallow stage-like arrangements of landscape and architectural features, dramatic lighting to intensify mood, and narrative interaction are all used for theatrical effect.

Works in the exhibition depict performers and performances, as well as townscapes and landscapes that demonstrate a theatrical approach to non-performance subjects.
