Carrie Schneider: Rapt

Exhibition Website

Feb 1 2019 - Apr 6 2019

Motivated by Linda Nochlin's 1971 historical text “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?,” Carrie Schneider: Rapt will feature Schneider’s ongoing photographic series Reading Women

From 2012-2014 the artist approached one hundred of her female identifying friends—including artists, writers and musicians––to read a text of their choice while she captured the process on film. The exhibition will include a number of the works from the series and invite the public and the student body to read the featured titles in the galleries.

Schneider will also exhibit large-scale and intimate black and white works that reveal a focused exploration of photo-based printing techniques while pointing to the exhibition's larger thesis of women's access and entry into traditionally male dominated fields.
