Rattner’s experimentation with the Surrealist movement while in Paris in the 1920s and 1930s led to lifelong friendships with fellow artists and writers. Rattner and Surrealism showcases the artist’s evolving style and influences while immersed in the Surealist movement, and highlights works by fellow artists Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, and others.
A recreation of Rattner’s studio includes vintage furniture, art materials, and sketches from LRMA’s extensive archives. This display incorporates objects related to the exhibition’s theme to give a deeper understanding to the artist’s creative process.
