The Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College is considered one of the best academic museums in the United States. The Museum is housed in the original 1917 Italian Renaissance-style building designed by Cass Gilbert, with a gallery for Modern and Contemporary art added in 1977.

The collection of nearly 14,000 works of art includes paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, prints, drawings and photographs, providing a comprehensive overview of the history of art from a many cultures. The collection is particularly strong in European and American paintings and sculpture from the 15th-century to today, with notable holdings of Asian art.

African, Pre-Columbian, and ancient art is also represented. The museum holds the Eva Hesse archives; a collection of the work of Czech artist František Kupka -- one of the most important Czech painters of the early 20th-century -- representing most of Kupka's career; and oversees Frank Lloyd Wright’s Weltzheimer/Johnson House.
