Greenville, Then and Now

Exhibition Website

Jun 21 2019 - Oct 6 2019

Evidence of shifting landscapes are all around Greenville, North Carolina. While many historical buildings are being torn down, in their place, new construction is going up at a rapid pace. Alongside these changes, our ideas of landscapes and what we value about them are also being renegotiated. Beginning in May 2019, the Greenville Museum of Art’s forthcoming exhibition, Greenville, Then and Now will invite viewers to pause and reflect on landscapes, what they have meant historically, and what they continue to symbolize to us as individuals and as a community. In particular, Greenville, Then and Now will offer a history of Greenville through archival material and artistic landscapes, and provide an opportunity for contemporary artists to reflect upon and/or re-imagine the historic and contemporary landscapes of Greenville, Pitt County, and Eastern North Carolina more broadly through a juried exhibition.
