First Blush

Exhibition Website

Jul 14 2018 - Mar 31 2019

First Blush presents 15 color drawings that are new to Mia’s collection or galleries. They range from a Swiss landscape from the early 1800s to an abstract composition from the 1950s. Some of the artists are prominent—Vincent van Gogh, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Georgia O’Keeffe, Lyonel Feininger. Others may be less familiar.

Each of these remarkable works represents the artist at an inspired moment in his or her career, an original voice captured with extraordinary facility in crayon, brush, or chalk. These remarkable works have come to Mia over the past few years as gifts, purchases, or long-term loans. Some have not been seen publicly for decades, if ever before.
