Exhibition Website

Aug 25 2018 - Feb 24 2019

While the United State struggled to remain neutral during the Great War which began in 1914, eventually the country was pulled into the conflict on April 6, 1917. Once involved, the nation mobilized all sectors of society to achieve victory, including artists who were enlisted to create patriotic images to recruit volunteers, raise funds for relief efforts, and finance the war through sale of Liberty bonds and savings stamps. The powerful, dramatic posters they produced made a major contribution to the victory achieved on Armistice Day in 1918.
