Bringing the War Home World War I Through The Stereoscope

Sep 29 2018 - Jan 27 2019

Marking the centennial of Armistice, The Great War through the Stereoscope brings together images of World War I published by the Keystone View Company (1892-1962). Keystone View Company's set of World War I photographs, called "The Great War through the Stereoscope," were published between 1915 and 1932, and were the company's all-time best seller. These images allowed the American public to study the war, as it was ongoing or in aftermath, with the lifelike, three-dimensional effect of stereoscope images. Studying these images anew a century later connects us to how Americans learned about and visualized the Great War.
