Selina Román: A Liminal State

Seductive and mysterious, the characters in Selina Román’s photographs offer an intimate, yet unsettling glimpse into a transient world full of the colors and glittering textures of vintage Florida. Selina Román: A Liminal State explores the quickly vanishing glamour of old Florida and the temporary feeling of the artist’s native state. Román’s voyeuristic approach allows her models to experiment with props and costumes, who are often transformed into faceless alter egos. Featuring her Florida motel room series, Please Disturb, the exhibition includes some of Román’s props to immerse the visitor in her experiences and photographs from a collaboration she did with members of the LRMA community in July 2017.
