Sep 21 2018 - Jan 6 2019

Visit the exhibition where Art & Science meet! Dinosaurs in Motion blends science, art, and innovation with 14 magnificent, fully interactive, recycled life-size metal dinosaur sculptures created by North Carolina artist John Payne.

Journey through Payne's four studios, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Master, to showcase how technological, artistic, and scientific advances all contributed to the creation of these amazing sculptures.

The sculptures weave the principles of kinetics, biomechanics, and robotics in their exposed mechanics and movable features. Visitors will have the ability to manipulate the dinosaurs via lever and pulley systems, as well as with remote controls, offering large-scale dinosaur interaction unprecedented in a museum setting. Principles of innovation, observation and experimentation are also linked throughout the exhibition and are reinforced as visitors take on the roll of an “apprentice” in Payne’s studio.
