Winter in the West

Exhibition Website

Feb 17 2018 - Feb 10 2019

Many Western landscapes feature bluebird days with sunlight glistening off of mountains, prairies, and coastlines. However, the winter season features prominently in the experience and history of the West.

Winters in the West vary from region-to-region, but can often be characterized by the wet season on the coast and the more frigid conditions in the higher elevations.

This selection of paintings from the Haub Family Collection reveals the season, with a juxtaposition of serene snow-covered landscapes alongside images of people living their lives in the cold. Winter in the West celebrates the resiliency and determination of the many inhabitants of the region.
