Lisa Oppenheim: Spine is the artist’s first solo museum exhibition in the United States. Bringing together three bodies of work — Lewis Hine photographs of textile workers, Landscape Portraits, and Jacquard Weavings — the exhibition takes poetic inspiration from notion of the spine and its relationship to natural world, the body, and labor.
Lisa Oppenheim (1975, New York, NY) lives and works in New York. She received a BA in art and semiotics from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1998 and an MFA in film and video from Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, in 2001. She attended the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program for studio art in 2003.
